Your First Visit
At 21st Century Dental, we want to make every first visit an experience to remember (for good reasons)! From the moment you arrive, our team will be listening closely and taking the time to learn about what’s most important to you – you are always in the driver’s seat! One of our doctors will also sit down with you to discuss your reasons for visiting in full detail and help you decide on a course of action, always taking your input into consideration when coming up with recommendations. We appreciate you for choosing us as your new dental home, and it will show clearly at each stage of the appointment.
Most of our new patient forms are now available to complete and submit online – no printing required! This saves you valuable time in our waiting room (as comfortable as it is) and helps us jumpstart your appointment by having all of your information in the right boxes beforehand. Would you prefer to come by the office and complete the paperwork in person? That old-fashioned option is always available as well upon request.
Hours of Operation
We are here to serve patients Monday through Friday, and the office is also open on Saturday for special appointments. Additionally, we have a doctor on call 24 hours a day to see you when you have an emergency that can't wait until we are back in the office.
Oral surgery and endodontic specialty care are available at our practice. Dr. Jeff M. Roy and Dr. Ashley Bristow take care of oral surgery needs, and Dr. Andrew Barnett is our resident periodontist, deftly handling dental implants, grafts, smile lifts, and periodontal surgery needs. Additionally, Dr. Smith works with all of our sleep apnea and snoring patients, as well as any patient who want to achieve straighter teeth.
Emergency Dental Care
For your convenience and to serve your emergency needs, we offer a 24-hour phone line. If you are a patient of record and have a dental emergency at a time that our practice is closed, please call the main office number (972) 885-3510 and you will be given instructions on how to reach us. Dr. Smith, Dr. Roy, Dr. Bristow, or a staff member will contact you as soon as possible.
We always accept new patients into our practice and welcome your friends and family. Your referral is the greatest compliment you can give us and is greatly appreciated. In fact, take a look at our reviews (hyperlink to them by pulling up a new page) and you will understand why we get as many referrals as we do. Heck, even if you have not been in to see us, go ahead and feel free to refer someone right now!
Please give us at least 48 hours notice to change or cancel an appointment. If you are scheduled on a Monday, please contact us by the previous Thursday morning. When you are in the office for routine hygiene care, we encourage you to preschedule your next visit. This is especially important if you want those "highly desirable" early and late time slots.
If you belong to a traditional insurance plan, we can assist you by filing your insurance claim. Traditional insurance is typically one in which you can choose any dentist you desire. Our practice does not belong to any PPO or DMO insurance plans. If you are not sure what type of plan you have, we will be happy to call for you and explain your benefits to the best of our ability.
In an effort to provide high quality dental care and to clarify our position on filing for your insurance benefits, we would like to share some facts about dental insurance with you:
Your dental insurance is based on a contract between your employer and the insurance company. While we will attempt to estimate your dental benefits to the best of our ability, this is an estimate ONLY and should not be depended on as the final decision. Should questions arise, it is best to contact your insurance company directly.
While you may receive notification from your insurance company stating dental fees are "higher than usual and customary," we work hard to keep our fees within this range. An insurance company surveys a geographic area, calculates an average fee, and then takes that fee and considers it customary. Included in this survey are discount clinics and managed care facilities, which bring down the average. Most doctors in private practice will have fees, which are defined as "above usual and customary."
Many plans tell participants they will be covered "up to 80% or up to 100%" but do not clearly specify plan fee schedule allowances, annual maximums, or limitations. Insurance companies do NOT cover all dental services.
Medical Insurance for Sleep Apnea Treatment
We process medical insurance for sleep apnea treatment and work hard to maximize your benefits. For Medicare holders with supplemental coverage, treatment is 100% covered. Our practice is an in-network provider with several leading medical insurance companies, including the following:

- Providence - Medical only - not DME
- Assurant Health
- Clear Choice
- Coventry Health
- Great West
Our computer system has over 800 insurance plans on file and tracks the payment schedules for many of them. Our staff will estimate your insurance coverage at each visit and ask you to pay the difference each time. Please note that this is an ESTIMATE only. If there is an additional balance due after the insurance claim is paid, we will bill you.

Affordable Financing Available
When planning extensive treatment or a purely cosmetic makeover that won’t be covered by dental insurance, the price tag may be a little intimidating at first glance. Thankfully, our team members are experts at helping make whatever services you need manageable and affordable. Payment plans are available through CareCredit, Compassionate Finance and Lending Club to break down the overall cost into simple monthly sections with little to NO interest attached (depending on the chosen length of the financing).
