In just a few weeks, you\u2019ll be unwrapping your new calendar, launching yourself into your new year\u2019s resolutions, and looking forward to all the adventures that 2019 will offer. But before the curtain closes on this year, you should put a visit to your dentist in Las Colinas on your to-do list. Let\u2019s discuss a few reasons why you should take full advantage of your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.21stcenturydental.com\/new-patients.html\">dental insurance<\/a>before December 31, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits Expire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most dental insurance plans work on a calendar-year basis.\nOn January 1, you are given a specific amount (usually $1,000 &#8211; $1,500) that\nyou\u2019re allowed to put toward approved procedures. If any portion of that amount\nis left remaining at the end of the year, those funds disappear. They don\u2019t\nroll over to the following year. Therefore, if you don\u2019t at least attend two\ncheckups annually, you could be losing out on hundreds of dollars\u2019 worth of\nbenefits. Over time, the unused money could amount to thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Policies Change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It isn\u2019t unusual for dental insurance policies to change a\nbit from year to year. You might end up with a higher deductible or copays in\n2019. If you\u2019ve already met your deductible for this year, it makes financial\nsense to get any needed dental work done before that deductible resets on\nJanuary 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Can Plan for Major Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some types of major dental work far exceed an insurance\npolicy\u2019s annual maximum, which means that you could end up with a significant\nbill even if you use your plan\u2019s coverage. One way to mitigate the cost of such\ntreatments is to ask your Las Colinas dentist if you can split them up across\ntwo calendar years. You could have part of the procedure completed now, and then\nfinish it in 2019. Also, keep in mind that many insurance plans\ncover minor restorative work at greater rates than they do major restorative\nwork.
