Spa Dentistry

As I mentioned to the dentist, I have had some bad experiences in the past. Unfortunately, this has caused me to develop "dental phobia" which inhibited me from visiting the dentist for several years.  To make this first step was a big challenge for me.

We at 21st Century Dental have adopted the assumption that everyone "hates to go to the dentist". For this reason, our philosophy has become: "Make the patient feel like they are anywhere BUT the dental office."  This may sound like an exercise in futility, and we realize, of course, that everyone does not have this aversion, but why not treat everyone as if they do? We want you to enjoy your visit with us, so we have provided many diversions to make that a reality. To that end, we practice what we like to call "Spa Dentistry". Here are some of the distractions you will find in our office:

• Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and Sleep Dentistry available to fit your needs.
  
  
• Televisions in every room can "take you away" if you choose.
  
  
• An assortment of DVD movies (we will order your favorite if you give us enough notice)
  
  
• For your listening pleasure, we have several options. Headphones may be used, or you could choose the ambient atmosphere in the entire room by making your music selection. You may choose from our large collection of CDs  or any group of songs you wish to hear.
  
  
• Massage mats remotely controlled by you to set kneading pattern and heat intensity.
  
  
• Lifescape glasses will locate you somewhere else…a babbling brook, maybe?
  
  
• We bake fresh Otis Spunkmeyer cookies daily for the aromatic smells (and go on diets weekly for the problematic swells).
  
  
• Pleasant scents waft through our spa from carefully placed candles and customized aromatherapy oils.
  
  
• Spearmint pressure point cream massaged into your temples to ease stress.
  
  
• With aromatherapy available at the chair, you may choose one of 3 scents in a warm cushioned neck or back pillow.
  
  
•  Herbal eye masks or hot/cold eye compresses will soothe tired eyes.
  
  
• At the conclusion of an appointment where your mouth was numbed, a Baskin Robbins milkshake, a hot towel, lip balm and ibuprofen are made available to you.
  
  
• For those of you waiting on your loved ones, enjoy the soothing saltwater aquarium, have a hot or cold drink at our beverage counter, enjoy a movie or cable TV on our 42" plasma flat-panel monitor or sit back and daydream as you gaze into the placid sky above.
